Healthy Eating Tip: Eating Sensably Made Easy

With the end of the summer drawing near this recipe tip for healthy eating is not only easy, but it provides a sensable meal for you to pack for a picnic at your favorite beach side locale.  Pair with some healthy sides and you have a recipe that will keep you steered in the right direction and keep you on your SENSA diet plan.

These healthy and fresh ingredients will last longer in your cooler and will keep you and your fellow beach-goers active, healthy and satisfied throughout the day.  Pair with sliced carrots and celery sticks for an additional veggie punch that is a great alternative to chips, but if you must have them don’t forget to sprinkle.

A blend of oven roasted turkey, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, avocado, alfalfa sprouts and optional italian vinagrette is wrapped in a Spinach tortilla that packs a healthy crunch.

Servings 4

Ingredients:

4(10 inch), Spinach tortillas(Substitutions: Sundried Tomato or Whole Wheat)

3/4 LB Oven Roasted Turkey(Thinly sliced)

4 cups loosely packed mixed greens

2 cups of alfalfa sprouts

2, tomatoes, thinly sliced and halved

1 cucumber, thinly sliced

1 avocado, split in half and cut into thin slices

4 oz italian vinagrette(or) oil and vinegar(Optional)

Directions:

1.   To assemble each wrap place 1 tortilla on a cutting board.

2.   Place 3-4 slices, each overlapping the other in the center of the tortilla working outward.

3.  Next, top turkey with a small handfull of lettuce.

4.  After the lettuce, place 3-4 slices of tomato halves in center of lettuce.

5.  Then place 3-4 slices of cucumber and continue with 3 avocado slices.

6.  Lastly place a small handful of sprouts on top and add a light drizzle of italian dressing in the center(if desired)

7.  Finally, you are ready to roll up the wrap.  Begin by tucking in the sides at the same time and roll tightly until the wrap is round.

8.  Cut the wrap in half at a slight 45 degree angle and transfer to a plate to enjoy with your favorite fruits,  veggies or side salad.

9.  Before you endulge, don’t forget to Sprinkle.
