Put Down the Remote!

Hello all you Sprinklers out there!

I hope you are having a fantastic summer and celebrating your Sensa success!!!! A few months ago I was talking with Dr. Hirsch (the creator of Sensa…and my personal hero) and I asked him if he thought part of the reason Sensa works is because you are forced to sprinkle it on everything you eat and therefore you become more aware of what you are consuming. He said yes he thought part (but not all) of Sensa’s success was behavioral in nature. So lately I have been trying to be extremely conscious about what I am eating and more importantly why I am eating it. When I do sit down to eat…I try and focus on the process of eating. I eat slowly and really taste the food and experience the texture. I smell the food and think about it instead of mindlessly shoveling more in. It has really helped me enjoy the process of eating and I found myself needing to eat less.

So this week, why don’t you turn off the TV when you are eating? Don’t just throw the food down your throat but revel in it and really taste it. Eat slowly and chew the food completely (which is actually good for digestion). And if you feel like you are about to binge on something…stop and try and figure out if you are really hungry or if you are just feeding your emotions or insecurities and not your body.
