Sparkpeople (who I love, love, love) has just released the The 11 Worst Foods of 2008 List and it’s worth a view.
Here’s some of the highlights:
If you happened to have tried the Eggnog Shake at Jack in the Box over the holidays you’ll likely be less than thrilled to learn that you consumed 1450 calories and 68 grams of fat. If you’re a woman around my height (5’1) then that is about the appropriate calorie count for your entire day, in one single beverage! Scary stuff!
Now you probably knew a milkshake wasn’t gonna be great for your waistline, but what about a salad? Well did you know that the Seared Sea Scallops Salad at Macaroni Grill comes in at 1270 calories and 94 grams of fat. Wow!! Just when you think you’re doing a good job ordering something light and healthy.
The moral here is to plan ahead and look up the calorie content in advance so you know for sure that what you are ordering isn’t going to wreck your weight loss efforts. Many restaurants offer this information online. When in doubt go for a fish or chicken with veggies and make sure they are grilled. Remember, Sensa can help you reduce your portion sizes by making you feel full faster, but even if you eat half of a 1270 calorie salad that’s hardly keeping you on track. So be sure to be careful with restaurant and fast food meals.
Here’s to a slim and healthy 2009!
