My most romantic Valentines is when my husband surprised me with a weekend getaway to a very nice hotel along with supper out and a show!

A few years ago I met two girls that were dating my boyfriends friends. Well the three of us didn’t get along too well until the boys all broke up with around the same time. Well we became friends in a sense of supporting each other through our breakups. Anyhoo… since we were all single on the upcoming valentines day we decided to be crafty one year and make our own ex-girlfriend shirts… silly but it was fun. The next year after that two out of three of us had boyfriends so the three of us decided to make a valentines dinner date. Fortunately the two boyfriends were working at the time so it worked out. As the years have passed, we laugh about those times and see how much we’ve grown but thank god where we are at today.

My favorite Valentine memory is from last year, when my boyfriend gave me a lovely bouquet of pink roses.
I had never received a bouquet of roses before, and I cried in happiness!

The year I was pregnant with our first baby, was the first and last year my husband tried to send me flowers. The beautiful roses he sent me ended up at the wrong office location and delivered to the wrong girl with my same first name. To add insult to injury, the people in the offices at first thought a co-worker we all disliked had sent them to me, since my husband and the co-worker shared the same first name. I also had to drive across town to retieve them. Needless to say I don’t get anything for Valentine’s Day anymore.
So I would call it memorable but not exactly my best Valentine Day!

Last year me and my husband celebrated valentines day with chocolates, a wonderful steak dinner,a movie and popcorn, and the night ended with stomach aches! It took me weeks to loose the weight from that one night! Since then, we are both trying to be more healthy! We were doing good walking together after dinner, but then it got cold and HE GOT LAZY!.. A Smitten would be a wonderful and funny way to tell him that I love him and I want us to be healthy TOGETHER!

Years ago, I owned a flower shop. I wanted to do something unforgettable so I rented black tuxedo’s with red bowties and red cumberbunds for my good looking college-boy son, and his friends (12 of them!). We had dozens and dozens of orders to go to offices, restaurants and hospitals. When each delivery showed up with a good-looking young man attached, the ladies were smiling from here to Christmas. The next day, the shop phone rang off the hook! All those ladies were bubbling over with their special deliveries. Several asked if they could send the roses back and keep the tuxedoed delivery man! Our shop was certainly the talk of the town and we made alot of new customers! Those Ladies will always remember that special Valentines Day!

My best Valentine was lots of years ago before the kids were born. My husband had drawn a heart on the mirror (with my lipstick) telling me he loved me and for the rest of the day he had left notes everywhere. In my bag I take to work, in the drawer where the cutlery is, in the oven, on the tv,… It was just very touching. Now mind you I haven’t had anything like that again in the next 12 years, so I’m still savoring this one

My best Valentine’s Day . . . must be yet to come! I can’t remember any yet, so I guess they haven’t been too spectacular. Here’s hoping for this year though!

For this Valentines Day I have made up invitations for my Grandchildren and a few of their friends, my husband and my children to all come for a fondue party. Instead of the traditional box of chocolates I will have fruits of every kind and dark chocolate for them to dip or drizzel on them. I also have special small stuffed friends for each of them to have. They get the benefits of a healthier Valentine with the slight indulgence of chocolate and we all get to enjoy each others friendship for the afternoon!!

My best and most memorable Valentine’s Day was actually Valentine’s Eve – February 13, 1998. This is the day that I married my best friend, soul mate and the love of my life. What made this day so special wasn’t a big extravagant wedding (we got married at the Courthouse as it was a 2nd for both of us), but the fact that his mom, dad and three sisters showed up; his dad walked me down the “aisle” as his sisters and mom “sang” the wedding march. The Judge was more touching than any priest or pastor could have been and she brought my sweet, loving, compassionate husband to tears as he said “I do”. She told us afterwards that was the most loving ceremony she had ever seen or performed.
Did I mention that I picked this date because my birthday is on Valentine’s Day and I knew he’d never be able to forget either our anniversary or my birthday?

My and my husbands best valentines ever would have to be on February 14th, 1994 as it was the birth of our first child. She was the best valentines gift, and the best gift ever, we could ever ask for. I always tease my husband that whatever he gives me for valentines day he can never beat what I gave him in 1994, a child.
